Mail Order Pharmacy Services were developed to provide information, quality, and service as close to the retail setting as possible. Universal Rx provides a variety of mail order options designed to provide improved health outcomes for our members and generate substantial savings for our clients.

Our mail service pharmacy component, combines personal service with the convenience of home delivery. Pharmacists and their patients develop a close relationship over time. Being able to ask questions and to personally know the pharmacist filling their prescription is important.
The Mail Order benefit allows employees and their dependents to order up to a 180-day supply of maintenance medications with one simple co-payment and fewer trips to the pharmacy. High-quality maintenance medications can be conveniently ordered by telephone or online.
The Mail Order Pharmacy feature provides a benefit to both clients and their members. Taking advantage of the Mail Order feature helps members achieve greater savings and convenience while saving additional costs to the overall plan.
Universal Rx's mail order program utilizes a mail order facility in Elk Grove Village, Illinois.
Universal Rx's mail order facility is a VIPPS certified pharmacy. To become VIPPS certified,
a pharmacy must comply with the licensing and inspection requirements of their state and each state to which they dispense pharmaceuticals.
In addition, pharmacies displaying the VIPPS seal have demonstrated to the National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP) compliance with VIPPS criteria including patient rights to privacy, authentication and security of prescription orders, adherence to a recognized quality assurance policy, and provision of meaningful consultation between patients and pharmacists.
Once Universal Rx receives an order request, the medication leaves the facility within 24 to 48 hours if all necessary information has been received (example: prescription from physician).
The prescription claim is adjudicated to Universal Rx within 24-48 hours of receipt. In fact, 96.3% of all confirmed orders meet this benchmark. For an initial order, the member must either mail in the prescription or the physician can fax or phone in the prescription. The member must fill out a profile form via the web or mail the form directly. Universal Rx can also accommodate the member by taking their information over the phone.
Once the order is processed, it is filled by Licensed Pharmacy Technicians under the supervision of a Registered Pharmacist. Then a final review by the pharmacist is performed to ensure accuracy. If provided with an e-mail address by the member, Universal Rx can e-mail a shipping confirmation which includes the carrier name, tracking number, and shipment date so the member can track their shipment online.
Universal Rx utilizes US Postal Service, UPS, DHL or FedEx for all orders. Universal Rx can ship to the most convenient location for the member whether it is a PO Box, home address, or work address.

The turn-around time from the point an order is placed to the point it reaches the member ranges from 3 to 7 days, depending on location. Expedited shipping is also available upon request.
